Rarely do I find myself buying a certain product more than once unless I have absolutely fallen in love with it. Even more rarely do I buy a product that is deemed a little bit more expensive than normal unless it’s honestly worth it. Today, I’m going to talk about the Kiehl’s Ultra Facial Oil Free Gel Cream, or what I like to call, lightning in a container.
I was in the market for a new face moisturizer after I realized my Garnier Rose moisturizer was not working for my skin. I went to the mall where I stumbled upon the Kiehl’s store. Destiny. The store associate did a very quick and easy skin test on me. She told me I had combination oily skin and because of that I needed to use a gel based moisturizer. Never in my 22 (almost 23) years of life have I heard that I needed to use a gel moisturizer. I am so used to cream moisturizers and I’ve exclusively only used those my whole life. The associate explained to me that cream moisturizers clog my pores. They create more oil while gel moisturizers are designed to help create a balance. I tested it in the store and the gel moisturizer felt so lightweight and melted into my skin. It also didn’t contain any fragrance and I barely had to use more than 1-2 pea sized scoops.

I already went through my first container in 3 months and I’m still working on my second one. I plan on repurchasing this in another few weeks and probably forever ($30 but so WORTH IT). It has been so amazing on my skin and has been making it feel so hydrated without the oiliness of a cream based moisturizer. I use it in the morning after washing my face. Then I apply face sunscreen (make sure to always apply sunscreen every morning) and I use it at night on top of my serum. Seriously, a game changer. I highly recommend switching to a gel moisturizer if you have combination oily skin. If you have dry skin, go for the Kiehl’s cream version. Fun fact: there’s also a cream version that comes with sunscreen in it.
