Welcome to a new series I’m starting on this blog – Sincerely Spotlight! Sincerely Spotlight is going to feature a product pick of the week or month (depending on my posting schedule). Today, I want to talk about something that I’ve been really curious about and seeing all over the internet – blue light glasses. All of my friends have been asking me about them so I decided to dedicate a full post to them. As someone who uses technology way too much, it really puts a strain on my eyes and gives me headaches. So, I purchased blue light glasses and have been using them for about 2+ months now and I’ve really seen a difference! So, let’s break it down below.
WHAT IS BLUE LIGHT?
Blue light is a specific light emitted from screens that is harmful and causes eye strain. It leads to poor sleep as our brains tend to associate the light as sunlight, causing us to lie awake with a headache. Many studies have shown that blue light blocking glasses help improve sleep quality.
BENEFITS OF BLUE LIGHT GLASSES:
In typical business school fashion, let’s break it down into short, concise bullet points.
- Has a slight yellow tint to help block harmful blue light leading to better sleep quality
- Helps with eye strain and headaches
- Glasses can be found in trendy styles
- Can be built into your prescription glasses
- Certain glasses reduce glare
- Great for everyday use
- Allow for more of visible light spectrum so colors look more natural
WHERE CAN I BUY BLUE LIGHT GLASSES?
We have all experienced the late night Netflix binge which leads to sleepless nights and headaches. We’re going to do it regardless so might as well use some eye protection! Blue light glasses are not hard to find – I got mine on Amazon (thank you Amazon Prime 2 day shipping)! And, they won’t break the bank.
Here is the exact pair I got: TIJN Blue Light Blocking Glasses (non-prescription)
One of my favorite places to get glasses is Warby Parker and they offer blue light glasses built into your prescription lenses. Check them out here!
EyeBuy Direct is also a great place to get blue light prescription/non-prescription glasses. Check them out here!
Whether you’re working late at night or binging Game of Thrones until 3 AM (guilty), blue light glasses will help protect your eyes. If you try them, let me know in the comments below! Happy (safe) Netflix binging!
