Traveling to NYC soon and have no idea where to go? Have no fear! I have the ULTIMATE guide!
I like to consider myself an expert in all things NY even though I only lived there for four years of my young life AND I didn’t even live in the city. BUT, you can trust me because I did all the research and visited a while ago and I have the 411 of my top 5 favorite places!
STATEN ISLAND FERRY
Let’s talk Staten Island Ferry. First of all it’s free and who doesn’t love free things??? And you get a BEAUTIFUL view of the city. My secret tip is to go on the ferry around sunset time so while you’re going to Staten Island, you can see the beautiful sunset. And, when you take the ferry back, you see the city at night. Does anyone have “ALL OF THE LIGHTS” playing in their head? No. Just me? Ok MOVING ON.
THE FRIENDS BUILDING
I’ll be there for you when the rain starts to pour! Uhhh if you’re not a fan of Friends what are you doing with your life? I have seen Friends a million and one times and I can know all the lines by heart and I am a total Monica. OBSESSED. For all Friends fans, you HAVE to go see this building! They used it to shoot the outside of Rachel and Monica’s apartment! It’s located at 90 Bedford Street at the corner of Grove Street! Now all they need to do is build a Central Perk and I will be living my best life.
BROOKLYN
ALL OF BROOKLYN. That’s right. I think Brooklyn is the BEST borough of NY. (Sorry please don’t kill me!) I mean the views of both the Manhattan and Brooklyn Bridge are enough to sway anyone! Also, for all the Gossip Girl fans, DAN HUMPHREY lived in DUMBO, Brooklyn and his apartment is at the corner of Water and Washington Street! So if you want to live out your Gossip Girl dreams, this is the place for you! The best pizza is also found in Brooklyn. Literally, go to ANY pizza place and you will fall in love. Also, check out the cool street art! Totally Instagram worthy.
HALAL GUYS
GUYS. If you haven’t tried Halal Guys, you’re missing out. If you’re in NY, this is a MUST. The “OG” Halal Guys food cart is located on 53rd & 6th and I SWEAR you can’t beat their gyro. They finally opened a brick and mortar Halal Guys in Atlanta but IT IS NOT THE SAME. You just can’t beat the original! Check it out and you will not regret it!
9/11 MEMORIAL
Last but not least, the 9/11 Memorial. A beautiful place filled with so much sentiment. Just walking around this area is a great way to reflect on your life and just feel grateful. Must visit.
