The older I get, the more I realize how important it is to care for our planet. I’ll admit, in the past, I used to pay little to no attention when it came to recycling or helping the environment in any sort of way. As I’ve gotten older, I’ve taken a leap into looking at sustainable brands, focusing on reusing products / recycling, and limiting as much waste as I can. These small things make a huge difference and will not only help our generation, but those beyond. Here are three tips on how to live a more eco-friendly lifestyle!
DITCH THE MAKEUP WIPES
I used to be a victim of makeup wipes and one-use cotton pads. First of all, makeup wipes are not only harmful for the environment but they’re also not the best way to remove your makeup (a whole blog post on that later). I recently got these reusable cotton rounds from Amazon and they are amazing. I use them with my micellar water to remove my makeup and then toss them in the little laundry bag. Then, I toss that bag in with my normal laundry and those cotton rounds are ready to be used again. A much easier, efficient, and not to mention eco-friendly solution to an almost daily activity.
CARRY A REUSABLE WATER BOTTLE
I am all about reusable water bottles. I used to carry one all throughout college and wouldn’t leave my apartment without it. Reusable water bottles use less oil, release less carbon dioxide, won’t pack landfills, and they’re good for water in general! This one from Dafi is one of my favorites because it’s perfect for travel. I recently went on a hike and its ergonomic design was perfect for holding the bottle or clipping it onto a backpack. You have to squeeze the bottle while drinking and somehow that makes it that much more satisfying. It also comes in different sizes and colors so it’s easily customizable! The filter inside of it also REPLACES 300 PLASTIC BOTTLES MONTHLY – I mean that’s amazing. The bottle is also 100% BPA free and you can fill the bottle from any tap water source and have always available fresh filtered water anywhere you are (great for hiking)!
SWITCH TO A METAL STRAWS
I recently made this switch and I love it. I used to use plastic straws when it came to my homemade iced vanilla chai but using a reusable metal straw and throwing it in the dishwasher has made my life so much easier. And, it’s a much more eco friendly solution. One straw eliminates the need for 100 plastic ones and if you take good care of them, they last for a long time. I got these ones from Amazon and I’m never going back.
